I recently went to Minnesota for 2.5 days. 4 hours from OC airport, 2 hour time difference.

I was on my way to visit the famous DULUTH PACK factory.

最近出張でミネソタ州に行ってきました。OCから飛行機で４時間。時差２時間。

DULUTH PACKという老舗のバッグ メーカーの工場訪問だった。

I was supposed to meet my buyer from Japan at the airport but he wasn’t due in for another 10 hours.

I decided to get my car and check into the hotel first.

Here’s a shot right outside the airport.

Nothing.

日本のバイヤーと現地で待ち合わせしてたので先に到着。

合流まで１０時間あったからまずホテルへ…

しかし何もなかったな〜

My Ford Focus rent a car.

Man, these sure have evolved from the first models.

I had a 600 mile round trip drive ahead of me so I was glad I got a new car.

今回の愛車FORD FOCUS。これで明日往復９６０kmのドライブが待ってたから新車で良かった。

My room. Not too bad at all.

Better than a Japanese business hotel.

これがホテル。ま〜普通のホテルですね。

日本のビジネス ホテルよりはいいけど…

この風景がず〜〜〜っとつづきました。360kmも…

途中で雪が降ってきてびっくり！OCはまだ25℃だったのに！

We passed buildings like this along the way and it reminded me how other parts of the world move at a different pace.

It’s so obvious, but we often forget we’re not the center of the universe…

世の中はみんな東京と同じペースで動いてないんだな〜と実感した一瞬。

It was pretty cold here.

And finally! We made it to DULUTH PACK.

It’s just how I saw it on Google Map! I like the backpack on the wall.

This office opened in 1911 and has been open for 100 years!!

そして今回のメーカー、DULUTH PACKに到着！

GOOGLE MAPで調べた通り…壁には大きなリュックが飾ってあった。

1911にこのオフィスを開けたのでもう１００年！！

すげ〜

This bag in the lobby was like 50-100 years old or something…

It was in amazing condition.

ロビーには50-100年近く前のバッグが！

すげ〜いいコンディションだった。

DULUTH PACKのバッグはすべて１００％保証がついてるからメンテナンスもバッチリ！

This is what the original packs looked like. They were designed to be stowed on the floor of the canoe when traveling.

It was patented in like 1882!

1880年代に登録したパテント。もともとカヌーの床に置くように開発されたバッグ。

Huntingやcampに使われ、最高級の皮しか使っていない。

This autopack was brought in by a customer and was dated in the early 1900′s.

This too, was in amazing condition and was here for maintenance.

これもお客様が持ってきたオリジナル品。これも１００年前の物。みえね〜〜〜！

ってか、なに？

The pack was hung on the door like this.

I wonder what this would look like on a modern day car?

はいはい！その当時の車のドアに掛けるバッグ？みたいな。笑。

またブームになるかな？

Here is where the magic starts. ALL HAND MADE, MADE IN AMERICA power. Represent.

Each bag is lovingly made by hand.

ここがALL HAND MADEのAMERICAN POWER!

一人一人が丁寧に時間掛けてhand madeしています。

The cool thing about it is that it’s not a mass produced line, but every craftsman(woman) is in charge of making a certain bag from start to finish.

Some people have been working here for over 20 years and REALLY know what they’re doing.

流れ作業ではなく、一人一人が一つの商品を最初から最後まで作ってる。

２０年以上もここで働いてるプロもいる。

The work areas were all super clean (especially for being 100 yrs old!)

作業エリアはきれいで職人の臭いがプンプンした！

これが１００年以上続いてる作業エリア！？

Here, the young craftsmen cut out the canvas using templates.

Their movement was quick, precise and full of experience.

バッグの生地はここで広げ、テンプレートに合わせて切ってる。

若い子達の作業スピードがすごい。

職人さんだね。

Only the highest quality leather here.

最高級の皮を見せてもらった。色と肌触りはいい！

That leather turns into this sweet bag.

All bags are constructed inside out like this.

それがこんなおしゃれなバッグに！

バッグは全部裏返しになって作られて行く。

The left over parts of the high grade leather is not wasted. Here, the pieces are used for shoulder straps.

余った皮はちゃんと利用。ショルダー　ストラップに生まれ変わる場合も。

Every bag is proudly signed by the person who made it so that the customer knows it was hand made with care.

Nice touch.

出来上がったバッグにはすべて作った人の名前が書いてある。

これは息人のプライドの証。

とてもいい人達だったし、自分でも欲しくなる。

More than bags, however, these were the hot sellers right now.

バッグ以外にも以外に売れてるのがこれ。何でしょう？

Yes, it’s hunting season out here and people were scooping up their new cases…

実はライフル　ケースです！

そうです、ここに銃を入れてhuntingに行くんです！

やっぱアメリカではまだまだ本格的なアウトドアが一般的。

都内では売れないな。

I couldn’t figure out what these tools were for…

ちょっと不思議な工具。

Upon further examination, I realized it was for the custom made stamps for special order logos.

I think Stage 10 should make some limited edition bags…anyone down? lol.

実はカスタムなバッグを作る時に使ってる工具と金型。

ちょっと交渉してStage 10で作ろうか迷ってます。笑。

These guys just hammer away all day…

彼達はリベット担当。

朝から晩までリベットをたたきまくり！

お疲れさまです！

The rivets all come copper and are then coated for various uses.

リベットは全部銅でできてるけどそこからコーティングして金色にもしてる。

The rivet station. I don’t know what the equipment is used for, but it looks cool.

The stockroom was fun to check out. All the hand made bags were carefully stored here. They were ramping up production for the holiday season.

そしてあまり公開されない在庫！

手作りなのですべて大事に大事に保管されてる。

ここで見るまでは気づかなかったけど、本当に商品を大事にしてる。

I liked this messenger bag design a lot.

こんなかわいいバッグもあった！

うちを通せばカスタムオーダーも可能！！やば、マジ欲しい。

Even their fabric and color swatches had the logo imprinted on top.

Nice.

１００年以上も生き延びた老舗のバッグ。DULUTH PACK。

Well, after the factory tour, it was time to go back…300miles back.

工場見学も終わり、帰りの３６０kmを走る事に。

I assumed there was NOTHING to do around my hotel, but to my surprise, the largest mall in America was right down the freeway!

The MALL OF AMERICA!

周りに何もないと思ったらここがあった！

全米で一番大きいモール。MALL OF AMERICA!!

Inside, it looked like SOUTH COAST PLAZA. All the stores were the same…

中に入ると確かに大きいけど、SOUTH COAST PLAZAと変わらない感じも…

But the dedicated tram system reminded me that this was no ordinary mall.

でも駐車場にはなぜか専用のシャトルがあったから相当大きいはず。

I was using a wide lens here but this place was really huge.

広角レンズで撮影したから分かりにくいけど、ここはでかかった。

And of course, this.

The HUGE amusement park in the center of the mall.

I read about it many times before but never thought I’d come here.

そして目玉は絶対これ！！

モールの真ん中に巨大な遊園地が！

SEGA　JOYPOLIS の比じゃないから。

The place was packed with roller coasters and even a ferris wheel!

ジェット コースターはもちろん、観覧車まで！！

The ceilings were high and you could here people screaming from all over.

I guess this was the ultimate hang out for all the young people…

天井も高く、いろんなとこから叫び声が！

ミネソタ州の若者はみんなここにいると思った瞬間…

I could spend hours here alone.

I lost myself in the atmosphere and forgot I was at a mall!

とにかく遊園地歩いてるだけでも広い。

中心にいるとどこにいるか分からなくなる…

Here’s the reason we decided to come.

そして今回の目的はここ。

This LEGO store was balls. They had a huge Gundam on top of the store complete with pilot!

いきなり外には巨大なLEGO GUNDAMが！

GUNDAMはマジどこに行ってもいるな！！

かっけ〜〜

Forget the other LEGO displays, the GUNDAM was sweet…

GUNDAM is everywhere…wwww

それ以外にもいろんなLEGO作品があって面白かった。

力入れてます。

I really should have taken a pic from the third floor to get a closer view but I was super tired.

３階から見たかったけど面倒くさかったからやめた。

With no time to rest, I was already on my way home.

4:30 in the morning. Below freezing…I was freezing.

However, 6 hours later and I was enjoying 70 degree weather and full sunshine back in OC.

結局出張は一日で終わり、次の日の午前４時半に出発。

車に乗ったら凍ってた。

僕も凍った。

６時間後にはOrange Countyに戻っており、２５℃のsunshine dayで体力を回復する事に…

短い出張はハードだな。

My impression of London in the daytime is always GRAY.

Of course, there is the occasional sunny day, but for the last 7 times I’ve been there before, GRAY seems to be the keyword for weather.

Night time is a different story though!

昼間のロンドンの印象はとにかくGRAY。

もちろん、太陽が出てる日もあるけど印象的には全部灰色…

でも夜は違う!

A different city emerges out of the darkness…

After work, we rushed to get some dinner…

After dinner, it was time to go back to the hotel…

The hotel doesn’t look impressive during the day, but the place really changes at night!

The BAR was full of LIVE bands and entertainment.

I just couldn’t understand why the drinks were so cheap!

ここもまた雰囲気が良かった！！

LIVEとかもやってて何よりも飲み物が安かった！WHY!?

Here’s my favorite band of the night.

The Singer was jumping up on tables and singing while the band was playing…

The guitar player and violinist were seriously talented…a very enjoyable performance.

そしてこれがLIVE BAND。

左のボーカルの女のノリが良く、テーブルの上に乗っかって歌ってた！wwww

バイオリンちゃんとギターおじさんもうまかった。

いや〜ここは最高ですな。

I already posted pics of the Silverstone race so I thought I’d post some pics from the rest of the trip.

My problems started at Heathrow Airport…right here.

ロンドンでみたレースの写真はもうアップしたけど、今日はレース以外の写真もアップしようかな？と思いました。

まずHeathrowAirport…ここから悲劇が始まりました。

I just came back from Tokyo and was already in London…

10.5 hours from LA and a 4 hour wait until I could meet my Japanese team.

However, their plane was delayed by 2 hours so I ended up waiting in this very lobby for another 6.5 hours…

After meeting up, we got lost going to the hotel so that took us another 2.5 hours.

I can say that I was pretty much dead by that point.

日本から戻ってきたばかりですぐロンドンへ…

LAからロンドンまで１０時間半。日本から来るチームと待ち合わせだったのでここで４時間半も待つ事に…

ただ、日本チームの飛行機も２時間遅れ、結局ここで６時間半も待った！

そこから迷いながらホテルまで２時間半。

死ぬかと思った…

The first few days were spent at Silverstone Raceway and at our friend’s shop.

最初の数日はレース場行ったり、お客さんの店へ…

The English freeways…very country.

イギリスの高速はこんな感じ。

田舎というか、スーパーCOUNTRY だよね。

After all our countryside work was done, it was time for the city! Back to London!

そして田舎の仕事も終わり、ロンドン市内へ！

I was staying at the ultra chic PARK PLAZA WESTMINSTER.

泊まったのは超〜〜おしゃれなPARK PLAZA WESTMINSTER.

I could feel the history.

The area was full of tourists…including me. Weather was bad as usual.

I don’t think I’ve had good weather in England the 7 times I’ve been here.

天気は相変わらずBAD…もう７回目だけど曇りが多い…

We were also right near the LONDON EYE, London’s landmark.

THAMES川のアトラクション、LONDON EYE 観覧車。

The building next to the ferris wheel was full of tacky “Asian” restaurants.

But yes…I ended up eating there.

隣のビルには怪しいアジア系のレストランがいっぱい！

…はい、そこで食べました。

The LONDON EYE was super packed.

LONDON EYEは混んでたな〜

We were going to give it a GO but found out that it takes 40 minutes to complete one ride!

乗ってみようと思ったけど一周するのに４０分かかると！！

I am always impressed by the craftsmanship. Built in the 1500′s…crazy.

1500年にできた建物。考えられない。今でも使われているからすごいよね〜

Even the park patrol vehicle had style.

The taxis looked vintage but some of them had NISSAN engines…

タクシーも全部こんな感じ。車種によってNISSANのエンジンも使ってる為、古いのか現代的なのか分からん…

But I guess that is better than riding in this.

So what happened to the GTR?

Well, in the end, it was forced to retire…Sucks.

The GTR apparently made contact with a Lamborghini earlier in the race and although it pit, everything looked OK.

Unfortunately, the damage grew worse as they raced and the front suspension eventually gave out.

Well, it happens in racing so we decided to wait for the car.

そしてGTRはどうなった…？

リタイヤでした。残念。

どうやら走行中にランボルギーニと接触してしまい、ピットはしたが、大丈夫だと判断し、走り続けてたら足回りのダメージが酷く、途中で壊れたとか…

ま〜レースだからしょうがない。良くある事なので。

とにかく車が戻ってくるのを待つ事にした。

And finally…

そしてやっとあの車両が姿を見せた！番号がいいね！

The GTR pulled into the pits…The hood alone was worth the wait. Pure art!

もうこのボンネットがかっこういい！熱対策ハンパね〜。

This car makes me like R35′s a bit more.

これならR35がもっと好きになれる。

Impressive…to say the least.

I guess Silverstone has a lot.

The rear wing is actually from a Le MANS car and may not make it on to the final production race cars.

I couldn’t list any specs on here because this car is still a prototype but the exterior shots up close are still sweet.

プロトタイプなので残念ながらスペックはまだ教えられないけど外見だけでゆるして！

Just want to say thanks to JRM, SUMO POWER, and CWEST for the experience.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this car from now on.

After lunch at the hospitality tent, we decided to return to the race…

休憩エリアでランチを食べて早速コースへ…

Finally, the pit!

The pit lanes were quiet as the race cars battled on the track.

車はみんな走行中だったからピット レーンも静かだった。

Mechanics were on stand by to handle any trouble.

イケメン メカニックもピット内から見守ってた。

Something about factory looking cars is still so appealing to me. I know F1 and all other open wheel races are exciting, but this always seemed closer to my heart. I could always relate to this…especially with GTR’s.

F1,F3とかINDYもいいけど、あれは早くて当たり前。俺はやっぱ普通の車の形に似てる「箱」型のレーシングカーが好きだな。

やっぱ夢があるよね。自分の車もあ〜やって早くなるのかな？とか考えちゃったりして！

Team members were discussing tire choices because the weather was so unstable that day.

天候も悪く、雨も降る可能性があったので各種類のタイヤのチェックをしてた。

The Lotus next door was getting ready to pit so things were getting exciting…

But there was also a lot of activity in the JRM booth…

Something was wrong…

隣のロータスはもうすぐピットだったのでザワザワしてた。

ただ、NISMO/JRMのピットもザワザワ…

何か様子がおかしかった。

Nothing looked wrong as the GTR kept passing by…

こう見えてもGTRは順調に走ってたみたいだが…

The car did come in contact with a Lamborghini earlier in the race…

数週前にランボルギーニー と少し接触してしまい…

But it kept going because there didn’t seem to be much damage and they didn’t want to drop any positions.

順位を落とさないようにそのまま走行。

ダメージはそんなに無かったようだが…

But something was wrong now!

明らかに何かおかしかった！

Everyone was glued to the monitors.

This was the final race so everyone wanted to leave with a win.

チームはモニターに釘付け。

ファイナル戦だったからなんとしても実績は出したかった。

The GTR kept on blasting for a few more laps.

そこから問題なく数週走り続けた。

Screaming “Go Go GO GTR!!”…

行け！GTR!!  がんばれ！！

…apparently wasn’t good enough because this is what came on the monitor a few seconds later!

と思った瞬間…やばい！！！！！

Everyone to the back!

さすがにチームは全員裏へ！

Emergency meeting…what happened?

どうした！？

…緊急会議が始まった。

I love GTR’S.

I also love anything that is GTR related…including this transporter.

本当にGTRが好きみたい。

GTR関係なら何でもOK!? wwww

I could just buy a bed, sofa and 60″ TV and live right underneath.

Everyone was at the track so we had the place all to ourselves for awhile.

The area was fully catered and the service was great.

It’s always nice to be served by a waiter and waitress who’s wearing GTR team shirts.

I recently went to London where I went to watch the FIA GT3 Finals at Silverstone Raceway.

つい最近FIA のGT3 FINAL戦を見に行ってきました。モータースポーツの聖地とも言われるSILVER STONE RACEWAYへ！

I hadn’t been to Silverstone since the last time I did the D1 Grand Prix event there many years ago.

I totally forgot how far you have to walk to get to the pits if you don’t have a pit area parking permit.

Like a 20 minute walk…no joke.

一つ忘れてたこと…駐車場からピットまでがメチャクチャ遠い！！

普通に歩いて２０分くらいかかった…

Although the walk was ridiculously long, it was sort of nice to walk over these bridges and have Ferraris, Lambos, and GTR’s blasting underneath you at full speed. Too bad the overpasses were boarded up so you couldn’t see…

ピットまでの距離はあったけど、コースを突き抜けて行ったからフェラーリ、ランボルギーニー、GTRとかがフル加速で目の前を通ってたからワクワクした！

The JRM/NISMO GT3 R35 GTR Prototype. As a GTR lover, this was a special treat.

I was a guest with team JRM with my long time friend Mr Omoto from C-WEST.

The pit area was festive despite the crappy weather.

I loved looking at all the team trailers and pit areas.

悪い天気にも関わらず、ピットエリアは賑やかだった。

いろんなチームのトラックが並んでてムードはフェスティバル！

They had an F3 event this day too.

These guys were pretty fast too…but not my cup of tea.

GT3レースと同時にF3のレースも行ってました。

こいつらも早かったな〜…でも興味無し。笑。

Each team had their race car truck as well as hospitality truck on hand.

I’m usually at grass roots events so it’s nice to hang out at these bigger motorsports events for a change.

Not F1, but good enough for me!

一台３千万以上するチームのトランスポーター　トラック。

普通はレースカーを運ぶトラックが一台と、チームの休憩場所を提供するトラックも一台準備してある。

F1には叶わないけどかなりいい感じです。

They would later go on to grab the podium, so this balcony turned into a champagne party that I was not invited to…

Went to Wholefoods market the other day and came across a funny snack.

Now remember I’ve been in Tokyo for the last four years so I am a bit behind on the latest localized Asian snack foods.

先日WHOLEFOODS MARKETに行って面白いスナック発見。

４年間日本にいたからアジア系スナックが全然分からない僕。

They’re called seasnacks and it’s basically Korean style dried seaweed. It’s called “nori” in Japanese but either way, it IS really tasty.

The seaweed is usually dried and seasoned with sesame oil and sea salt.

Super healthy and no fishy ocean aftertaste.

I was just impressed on how NON-ASIAN the lackaging was.

Strangely addictive?

Yes… but this looks like a bag of potato chips.

I get the concept but I just can’t see the average gamer munching on these seasnax instead of chips…

いろいろ動き回っていると時間が経つのが早い。

DSPORTS 誌のオーナーMIKEから「記事を書いてくれ」と頼まれたんで、喜んで引き受けました。

（車もずっと借りてるしもちろん！）

I’ve been back in LA for about 2 months now and am really thankful to have such great friends.

Not only has Mike (publisher and owner of DSPORT) graciously let me borrow his car all this time, but he asked me to write a short article on my real world experiences in Japan.

I was more than happy to oblige!

I wrote a short article about my move to Japan and how actually “living there” was different from “visiting.”

ティンティンも２回目の雑誌デビュー。

一回目はファッション誌ViViだった。

Tintin finally made his second magazine debut.

His first magazine debut was in a Tokyo fashion magazine with a famous model.

写真も全部僕が撮った物です。ただ、渋谷のいい写真がなかったので2002のやつを渡したら本当に使っていた！

日本に帰って４年間車業界から離れたけどいろいろと勉強できたしプライベートで車を楽しむ事ができた。

久々に仕事無しで車を楽しむ事もいい事だと思った。

今後は日本の経験を生かし、また「感動」と「夢」を与える仕事ができるようにがんばっています。

確実に勢いはついている。

自分の人生は自分で変える。

今からだ。

Some people may wonder if any of my observations are relevant and may question my loyalty to cars (because I worked at my grandfather’s fashion business for 4 yrs while in Tokyo) but please be rest assured, I am still a hard core fanatic and was enjoying tuning life as a private citizen. It’s nice to enjoy cars without business politics too.

Either way, I learned a lot of new things and met a lot of new people so I hope to combine these things into my new business plan for the near future. I’m working on some fun new projects now and hope I can do some more work that can inspire people again.

Like they say, life is what you make of it.

Change comes from within.

Now is the time.

２０００年、２万マイル４８０馬力。パワーはもうちょっと欲しいけど楽しい仕様です。

Fully built engine, NISMO kit, 19″ Volks…

I’d like to change wheels again…have had these on for awhile.

エンジンはフルチューン、エアロはNISMOさん。ホイルは１９インチのレイズだけどそろそろ変えたいかも…

Rockin’ my Arizona plates, I come back from Japan to find out that the R34 is like #1 on the law enforcement’s watch list thanks to the whole Kaizo deal.

According to the federal agent who handled the Motorex case, my GTR  is luckily one of the early R34′s imported by Motorex so the bond was released and the car is DOT OK. Whew…

But that doesn’t stop me from getting hassled though…

KAIZO社の問題が発生してからアメリカでR34を安心して乗れない環境になってしまった。少し時間がかかりそうだ。でも僕のGTRはMOTOREXが先に輸入したレアな車両。DOTのボンドもリリース。

でも目立つから気をつけないとね。

Interior is functional and simple for street.

The one thing I never changed was the stereo for some reason…not for any show, event or article.

Why?

For some reason I didn’t want to cut up  the audio harness thinking it would hurt the value of the car wwwww….

I cut up everything else but that…

このGTRはフルチューンなのにオーディオだけ触らなかった。

なんか、アメリカではレアだから配線を汚くしたら車の価値が下がっちゃいそうで…とか考えちゃってたりして…ww

It’s not often that I have a brand new 2012 GTR in my driveway…and no, it’s not my new toy…

On the contrary… this GTR came to save me.

家の前に現れた2012 GTR新車…しかしこれは僕の物ではない…

むしろ、この車が俺を救いにきたのだ。

The GTR belongs to none other than DSPORTS’ creator, owner, publisher, and  legend…  MICHAEL FERRARA.

I’ve known Mike since college and was talking to him about how I had no car since I came back to LA.

He simply said, “I have a car you can drive.”

オーナーは大学からの親友で今は車業界で超〜有名な雑誌の編集長、MIKEです！

俺が日本から戻って来て車が今無いとブツブツ言ってたら「貸してあげるよ〜」と言ってくれた命の恩人！wwww

He picked me up in the GTR and we were on our way. Whatever the reason, it’s always nice to ride in GTR’s.

速攻車を取りに！

GTRはいつ乗っても気持ちいいよね〜。

I wish Nissan tried a bit harder here though…

ダッシュボードのデザインはもうちょっとがんばってもらいたかったな…

He just bought this GTR for like 85-90 grand.  Must be nice~

But sine he’s gonna use and abuse this car through the magazine, I’m excited to see what they do with it. Judging by the other GTR projects he’s done, it should be pretty cool.

Just came back from a friend’s restaurant HABUYA in Tustin.

今日はTUSTINにある沖縄ダイニングのHABUYAに行ってきました。

It’s funny that I had my first taste of Okinawan food here. I had a million chances to go in Tokyo.

アメリカで初めて沖縄料理を食べるのもウケる。東京で何回もチャンスあったのに。

Don’t let the outside fool you. The inside is a whole different world.

店は外見で判断しちゃダメだよ！店内はとにかくかわいい！

Unbelievably good, this is pork kakuni (sweet stewed pork) with jalapeno, and 2 kinds of cheese on top…

We ordered  2 of these but they said they don’t make it every day.

最強の一品。角煮の上にハラペニョとチーズ。うますぎて２オーダー頼んじゃった。

でも毎日作ってないのが残念。

These spare ribs were also the bomb. The meat melts off the bone.

And the dangerous bottle of Awamori sake.

It was cool to see such  a young band playing the Okinawan music♪

After hard drinking and fun, it’s always nice to share some ramen.

思いっきり飲んだ後はラーメン！

Put some Okinawan spicy sauce Koregusu for more flavor. It’s a mix of Awamori sake and peppers…a must for any Okinawan.

Since coming to LA, I’ve been detoxing myself in nature after 4 yrs of hard core urban jungle.

That means running, swimming, and hitting up beaches and wild life preserves.

Today was the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary.

LAに戻ってから大自然を満喫してる。４年間の都内生活を一気にデトックス。

ランニング、水泳とパワーウォーキング。今日はサンワキーンの自然保護エリアに行った。

朝早くからの自然…眠いけどこりゃ体にいいや。

どれくらい続くのだろう。。。

The whole path is around 4 miles. Not somewhere I’d come at night but definitely a feel good spot.

ここは約５km以上のコース。とても気持ちいいスポットです。夜は怖くて行けないけどね。

15 min from my house going the other way down PCH is Laguna Beach. This set of pics doesn’t do the beach justice so I’ll be sure to post more on a re-shoot.

実家から１５分、数々のアート ギャラリーとおしゃれな雰囲気で有名なラグナ ビーチ。今回の写真じゃダメだね。このビーチの良さが伝わらない…また追加します。

20-30 min up PCH from my house, this is Huntington Beach. Known for surfing and beach volleyball, this place is always busy in summer.

うちからPCH を上がって２０−３０分のHUNTINGTON BEACH。ビーチバレー、サーフィンでも有名。

気持ちいい週末ですね。

This is a huge rock at the private beach near my house.

Spent many hours here just contemplating when I was younger…now I’m back.

実家の前のプライベートビーチ。小さい頃は良く来た場所。釣りもしながらいろいろ考えてたな〜。

懐かしい…そしてまたここでいろいろ考えよう〜っと。

One of the first things I did was to reset my brain and go to Corona Del Mar beach.

LAに戻って真っ先にコロナ デル マー ビーチへ。頭の中のリセットが入る。

5 minutes from my house, this has always been a place I enjoy.

実家から５分、いつ来ても癒される場所。

TinTin was also feelin’ the vibe. Bright sunshine, fresh air, and clean ocean.

ティンティンも絶好調！最高に気持ちいい〜

And this is the quiet side of the beach hidden behind the cliff.

The best part about CDM beach is that it’s hidden away and not too famous.

Hope it stays that way.

そして裏には静かなビーチも。あまり知られていないビーチだから混み過ぎも無く、いい感じのビーチです。

ずっとそのままでいてくれればな〜

A wasabi farm at the base of a waterfall.

滝のそこにあるわさび畑。

Wasabi only grows in the cleanest of water.

わさびはきれいな水でしか育ちません…でもそれはもう知ってたか…

フレッシュ！

850 yen per wasabi…around $10. not cheap. You have to grind the wasabi down and unlike cheap wasabi at the corner sushi store, fresh wasabi is actually not as hot. It has the punch but with much more depth. Once you learn the flavor however, it’s very nice.

わさび８５０円。安くはないけどついつい買ってしまいたくなるのは何故？
