My GTR

I went to go visit my old friend Eddie “The Power Doctor” Kim at Dynamic Autosports.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many memories I have with Dynamic.
Let’s just say it’s one of the oldest and original JDM tuning shops in the US.
Many magazines and manufacturers owe their success to this shop.
今回は親友のチューニングショップ DYNAMIC AUTOSPORTSにきました!
日本車JDMチューニング界では超有名〜。
大学の頃からの付き合いなので久しぶりに来れて嬉しかった。
Here’s the man himself… Eddie.
I met him in college when he came over for a Knight Rider 2000 premiere party at my house.
I must say that Knight Rider and Eddie didn’t click with me back then…lol.
But we’ve been through a lot since then, and with the test of time, have become trustworthy friends.
そしてこれがオーナーのEddie!
大学の頃、俺の家でKNIGHT RIDER 2000プレミアパーティーをしたときに初めて会った。
そのときのKNIGHT RIDERもEddieもピンと来なかった…(笑)
でも10年以上の付き合いで今は信用できる友達です。
And here’s the reason I came. I entrusted Eddie with one of my most prized possessions…
My 500HP class R34 GTR Vspec!
Eddie had a potential buyer for my car so I brought it here to let them look at it.
I would have taken it back to Japan, but with it being registered, I knew this GTR had to stay in the states.
This is it’s destiny… In Japan, it would just be another domestic sports car…

そうです!俺の500馬力の愛車,R34 SKYLINE GTR V-spec!
アメリカで珍しく登録できたこの車…Ferrariよりも注目されます…が、
俺も日本に引っ越したため、手放そうと思っています。Eddieのところに買いたい人が現れたので交渉中。
日本にもって帰って来ても「ヤン車」扱いだから世界のステージで活躍してもらいたい。
I got in 2000 and today, it only has 19,000 miles.
Not bad right?
The best part about it is that it’s registered in Arizona and has a legal title! What a journey that was…
2000年に買ってまだ走行距離は2万キロ程度…
正式に登録できたから驚き!苦労したよ…
The engine is worth over $50K including labor.
Fully built motor with crank, pistons, rings, rods, ported head, cams, etc…
The engine is capable of 10000 RPM! For an RB26DETT, this is not bad at all…
I flew in R-Section’s Toshi Aonuma from Sendai Japan just to build the engine.
This car boosts like mad from 4500RPM!

このエンジンを組んでもらう為に仙台からわざわざ R−SECTIONの青沼さんに来てもらいました。
4500RPMからの加速は強烈!
The interior is simple with just the most essential monitoring equipment.
内装はシンプル。必要なメーターと電子制御システムのみ。もうこの車はパソコンで制御しています。
Oh how I miss holding on to that steering wheel during acceleration…
加速中は必死でこのハンドルにしがみついています…
The car has a full NISMO aero kit and 19inch Rays wheels.
The car is easily worth over 150K at retail prices…but who counts at retail anyways?
It’s just nice to say out loud and makes me feel better about myself.

定価で計算すると価格は1千5百万円以上の価値…でも定価で計算しないよね。
自分で言って楽しんでいるだけ。
I was also lucky enough to run into Masaki from APEX that day too!
そしてこの日は偶然APEX USAのMasakiとも会えた!ラッキ〜!
Since I don’t really need to sell it, we’ll see how this turns out. I just want a fast car in Japan too.

always loved this car, can imagine you must miss it Toshi, but agree, it should now stay and live on in the USA…but what next for Japan? Hmmm Tosh in R35 GTR?? :p Good luck
Yeah Chris, wassup! If it sells, cool…but I obviously will miss it so if it doesn’t, I’ll make it work. An R35 would be dope in Japan but would lack originality. Since parking costs $450 / month where I live, I want an original car that justifies that price. Plus Tokyo is eco capital of the world so it needs to be fast and clean burning or people will throw trash at me while I drive through Harajuku… I want something they don’t have here…hmmm decisions decisions…
How about a Honda Insight? I heard Smokey-san from TS was building one with nitrous….. I don’t like nitrous too much though tbh, ricer gear

Nitrous would be a relatively “short term” solution I guess. I am not a fan of nitrous only because the game ends when the bottle does…it’d be great to have a tune engine that can effectively switch back and forth between the hybrid drive and motor. Small shops are actually working on this now. Imagine an obnoxious 400HP+ motor that just shuts off to a silent electric motor…and then have that electric motor tunable! That would be endless torque!

That is one sweet motor Toshi! I’d hate to have to leave something like that behind in a move. Looking forward to seeing what you choose in Japan!
Yeah, I have some ideas but they cost waaaaay too much…hahaha, but they’re really good ideas!…honest!
