Catching up with my good (oldest!?) friends…

I recently had a chance to catch up with one of my best friends from childhood. Matt and his family, Pamela, Adrian and Quinn have been close with us forever and it was something that was long overdue.

I went to go visit them at their new house nestled in the San Bernadino mountains.

最近幼なじみと会ってきました！

MATTとその家族: Pamela, Adrian, Quinn…昔から仲良しで久々の再会だった。

San Bernadino市にある彼達の新しい家に行って来た。

Looking like something straight out of a movie set, it was a huge area of land that they purchased to build their dream home.

The goal was a fully self sustainable ranch style home with a huge glass encased modern house in  the middle… cool stuff!

家って言っても映画のロケみたいなところ！家族プロジェクトでガラス張りの巨大な家を立ててる真っ最中だった。

電気、水とガスもすべてエコを意識し、自分たちで補えるようにしていた。趣味としか言えない工夫がたくさんあって面白かった！

Although the house was still in the initial stages of construction, they had set up a cool outdoor lounge area to hang out.

家はまだまだだったけど外庭にはゆっくりできるラウンジエリアがあった。

With the warm summer heat, this was a great place to have some beer, wine and good conversation.

ここで飲んだワインはうまかったな〜

Horses peacefully grazed just down the hill from the house.

家から坂を下りて行くと馬ちゃんがいました。

Being that they had an estate the size of a football field, the humanintarian Young family rescued many cats and dogs from all over the place. I believe they had like 14 cats…

動物に対しての愛情も深く、この家族はいろいろなところから猫と犬を助け出していた。猫はこれで１４匹…

and over 5 dogs…

ワンチャンも５匹以上！

Being eco friendly was a theme  for construction.

Matt and Quinn built the wall and the hill was lined with California indigenous plants that they bought for over a grand…wow, plants are expensive!

ここのプロジェクトのテーマはエコ。

壁はMattとQuinnが自分たちで作ったもの。その後ろにはカリフォルニアにしかない植物を植えていた。なんと数千ドル分を買っていた！たけ〜〜！

Of course, no outdoor loving family would be complete without the Range Rover and Jeep.

そしてアウトドア好きには欠かせないレンジロバーとジープ！

You can see the scale of the house in relation to blurry Adrian. Adrian was a professional football player by the way!

When I was younger I was always afraid that he would kick my ass…

これが家のフレーム。ここが全部ガラス張りになるからすごいよね！早く完成してもらいたい！

横にいるのがパパのAdrian,元プロのアメフト選手。結構有名でした。

But the hero of the day was this new outdoor oven . Matt busted out homemade pizzas for everyone.

でもなんと言っても今日の主役はこいつ！本格的オーブン！MATTがみんなの為にピザを作ってくれる事に！

You can see the oven baked pizza in front of the blazing fire!

よく見るとピザが見えるでしょう！？やばい！

Despite being hotter than the sun inside, you could touch the outside of the oven no problem due to the high tech engineering.

中はすげ〜温度なのに外側を触っても平気。シンプルなのに最新技術を使ってる。

This was a SERIOUSLY good pizza…

このピザはマジうまかった…本当に贅沢だった。
