In Japan, many things are digital…so are restaurant menus

Although there are touch screen digital menus also, this is a more rare version.

It uses this touch pen.

You touch the pen to the corresponding chips on the menu to order.

You can choose quantity and other factors from the main control panel on the corner.

Definitely efficient but maintaining service is still most important to me.

I guess we’re heading towards a future with no restaurant staff…good or bad?

job opportunities are lowered and the new touchscreen/pen ordering system is too troublesome in my opinion. but i have to admit it is quite interesting.

I like the digital type better because I can show my non-Japanese friends the dishes before ordering. That’s always nice when you don’t have to read Japanese…but nothing replaces a great waiter/waitress for sure!
